Nurse - Assisted Senior Living
WHO WE ARE: A large and active Assisted Living Community in La Mesa seeks Licensed Vocational Nurses to provide care to senior residents. The community served by this position consists of 180 assisted living residents. Working conditions and morale are excellent.
THE JOB: The field of senior care is experiencing explosive growth with unprecedented career opportunities for qualified LVNs. The position provides a rare opportunity to break into this field where the senior management is dominated by LVNs. Many Resident Services Directors have started out their careers in this position and moved up rapidly into management.
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate from an accredited nursing program and has an LVN license. Working with a staff of 30 caregivers and med-techs, the position provides routine nursing care to residents needing injections, treatment of wounds, and complex medication management.
. Administration of Complex Medications, Including Residents on Hospice
. Complete Care Appraisals for both Existing and Potential Residents
. Diabetes Management, including Glucose Testing and Insulin Administration/Injections
. Vital Signs Monitoring and Documentation, including Oxygen Saturation Levels
. Catheter Care and Monitoring
. Wound Care and Documentation
. Maintain Cordial Relationship with Health Care Providers and Pharmacy
. Physician and Family Notifications, as Needed
An outgoing, positive and friendly disposition is essential, as the position interacts extensively with staff from all departments, industry professionals, residents and their families throughout the day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to work independently and follow policies and procedures without need of follow-up from the Resident Services Director.
• Current California LVN license
. Current California Driver's License
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must have a current California LVN license. Previous experience in Assisted Living and/or Dementia Care is highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift/move 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques. Able to regularly lift and carry objects weighing 30 lbs. Able to bend, squat, and stoop to floor level.
COMPENSATION: $14/hour starting, with regular increases for outstanding performance.
Note: This is a full-time position and the work schedule may include various shifts and one week-end day as part of the shift schedule. Benefits include accrued paid time off (PTO). Dental and vision plans are available after 90 day introductory period.
BACKGROUND SCREENING: Company is subject to Title 22. Therefore applicants must pass an extensive DOJ and FBI background screen, TB and drug test, and physical exam at company expense. Work references are required and carefully checked. Must have a clean driving record and current California driver's license.
